National Medical Services, now known as NMS Labs, was founded over 45 years ago by Dr. Fredric Rieders who was an early entrepreneur in this space and who has worked tirelessly to make his vision of a world class clinical and forensic toxicology laboratory become a reality. Today, NMS Labs remains a family run business but has since built national recognition as a leader in the industry with clinicians, forensic scientists, law enforcement, and corporations turning to the company when faced with a backlog of tests or are in need of a full time outsource partner that offers speed, quality and integrity. NMS Labs provides over 2,500 tests for clinical medicine, industrial and environmental chemical exposure and forensic science with unsurpassed service and value, meeting the emerging needs of a world in which the level of a drug dosage in a person’s body, the amount of chemical exposure, or the DNA identity of a suspect must be rapidly determined with certainty, precision and replicable quality control. The NMS vision is to be recognized as the preferred provider of reference testing and professional interpretative services in laboratory diagnostics, and as a global leader in providing professional reference testing services in forensic laboratory science.
 
Today, with 18 Ph.D. scientists and toxicologists and over 200 highly trained laboratorians, NMS Labs
provides professional, state-of-the-art laboratory diagnostics from its accredited 5,000 square foot open shell building, its 60,000 square foot main clinical lab and 20,000 square foot forensic lab; all stable, modern environments with lean, high-tech operating labs and state-of-the-art research facilities.
 
In 2013, NMS Labs acquired Integrated Forensic Services (IFS) that added a further three laboratories (now expanded to six) in Texas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Florida to its portfolio. IFS laboratories primarily provides two types of testing-blood alcohol levels and drug identification-but has access to the NMS centralized labs which can provide the full range of toxicology and DNA tests for IFS customers. IFS and NMS Labs now operate as a single merged company.
