The facility is located in the College of Veterinary Medicine. The cell sorting unit is used for a wide variety of applications including sorting immune cells, bacterial cells, reproductive cells, and can also be used for separation of pharmaceutical delivery particles. The flow cytometry units are utilized for analysis of mammalian cells, avian (bird) cells, and other biological specimens.

| Essential Job Duties |
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional for the Management of the Cell Sorting Facility located within the Flow Cytometry Core in the College of Veterinary Medicine. This person will oversee all technical aspects and day-to-day management of this facility.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following core functions:
Cell Sorting Operation:
- The manager will be the sole user of the cell sorter and will be responsible for running all samples.
- Assist with study design and troubleshooting for clients.
- Manage cell sorting applications for a wide variety of samples, including sorting immune cells, bacterial cells, reproductive cells, and separation of pharmaceutical delivery particles.
Facility Management & Financial Administration:
- Maintain accurate billing and accounting for services.
- Manage the facility budget.
- Schedule all equipment use time.
- Preventative maintenance and quality control on all equipment.
Client Interface & Education:
- Interface with clients of the facility on research design and execution.
- Organizing quarterly educational opportunities.
- Clients will include NCSU investigators in addition to those from surrounding universities and industry.
Training & Support:
- Assist in teaching/training of graduate students and faculty on the use of the Flow Cytometric analyzers.
- The flow cytometry units are utilized for analysis of mammalian cells, avian (bird) cells, and other biological specimens.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires possession of post-baccalaureate credentials or a comparable record of independent research productivity.
|
| Other Required Qualifications |
- Strong background in biological research, laboratory methods, and veterinary medicine, with expertise in advanced scientific practices.
- Extensive experience in cell sorting and flow cytometry, including study design, troubleshooting, and optimizing experimental workflows.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a collegial, team-oriented environment and engage a varied community of users.
- Demonstrated aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching and training graduate students and faculty, fostering knowledge transfer and skill development.
- Skilled in budget management, client billing, and cost accounting, with a keen interest in developing and overseeing a growing service core.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Graduate degree (PhD preferred) in immunology, cell biology, or related fields, with significant expertise in flow cytometry and cell sorting.
- Extensive experience in cell sorting, including high-speed applications, with preference for proficiency using Cytek systems.
- Deep knowledge of flow cytometry techniques and software platforms such as CellQuest, FACSDiva, and FlowJo.
- Hands-on experience with advanced single-cell technologies, including 10x Genomics sequencing workflows.
- Proven track record in preclinical study design and execution, integrating complex experimental approaches into research programs.
