About the Department
The Perimeter College Department of Life and Earth Sciences includes a wide-ranging community of students, staff members and distinguished faculty scholars in the fields of biology, environmental science, geology and integrated sciences. Students taking courses in our department may go on to continue their education and prepare for careers in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields or health professions. Others pursue non-science educational goals and careers.

Position Description
Perimeter College is seeking part-time instructors in HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY who will play a key role in educating and supporting students.

Perimeter College offers Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II.

Human Anatomy and Physiology I:
This is the first of a two-course sequence in human anatomy and physiology designed to meet the requirements for nursing, dental hygiene, physical education, and other health science majors. Topics covered include animal cell structure and function, cell chemistry, cell division, metabolism, tissues, integumentary system, skeletal system, muscle system and nervous system.

Human Anatomy and Physiology I Lab:
This is a laboratory covering microscopic survey of animal cells and tissues, skeletal system, muscular system (animal dissection and muscle identification using human models), nervous system with emphasis on the brain and sense organs.

Human Anatomy and Physiology II:
This course is a continuation of Human Anatomy and Physiology I and covers the concepts of human anatomy and physiology that were not considered in Human Anatomy and Physiology I. Topics include metabolism and the digestive, cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, endocrine, and reproductive systems.

Human Anatomy and Physiology II Lab:
This is a laboratory covering blood and the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, endocrine, and reproductive systems.
Required Experience
None Specified.
Required Education
A Ph.D., MD (medical doctor), DC (chiropractor) or a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in applicable Human Anatomy and Physiology courses.

The successful candidate will have courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology along with a variety of other applicable courses such as pathology, histology, immunology, neurobiology, endocrinology, human systems, cell biology and genetics.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Teaching experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to teach HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY courses on the collegiate level
  • Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods
  • Ability to relate to a diverse student population and facilitate student learning
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology

Work Hours
Classes at Perimeter College are offered morning, afternoon and evening including weekends.
