Moffatt & Nichol is actively searching for a Professional Engineer with structural waterfront design experience to work in our The Woodlands, TX office. As the successful new hire, you will work on some of the largest maritime infrastructure developments in the United States and the world. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in marine structural design, structural modeling and analyses. Experience with the preparation of engineering reports, construction documents (drawings and specifications) and providing construction support is required.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conducts analysis, design, and inspections of waterfront structures.
  • Conducts asset management on submarine systems and other maritime projects
  • Develops plans, specifications, and inspection reports as needed
  • Helps resolve design problems that may include:
    • Performing field investigation or inspections
    • Constructing detailed design work
    • Detailed checking of design computations done by others
    • General coordinating of specific design aspects into a project
  • Calculates quantity estimates
  • Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • PE preferred
  • 4-8 years of marine structural design experience related to ports, marinas, vessel mooring, and berthing structures, breakwater and shore protection structures
  • Experience using:
    • MathCAD (Desired)
    • AutoCAD (Desired)
    • MicroStation (Desired)
    • SAP2000 (Preferred)
    • Etabs (Preferred)
    • LPile (Preferred)
  • Experience may include:
    • Finite element modeling
    • Design of mooring and berthing dolphins
    • Design of piles and pile-supported structures
    • Develop and review MTOs for the wharf structures
    • Preparation and review of drawings
  • Due to client requirements, the selected candidate must consent to and pass a drug screening
  • All new hires will be required to complete and pass a background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:

Majority of work is office-based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment
