Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You've come to the right place. YOUR IMPACT
You will lead McKinsey's highest-profile impact and institutional storytelling initiatives, managing a small team that develops multimedia client-case studies, storytelling about our partners, priority marketing copy, and content for the New at McKinsey blog.
You will report to the Global Editorial Director of McKinsey Global Publishing, and work daily with partners, client-service teams, practice leaders, editors, designers, and colleagues across brand marketing, communications, and client activation.
You will shape the next chapter for how McKinsey talks about the impact of our work with clients. The evidence for why named case studies matter is strong and growing: most B2B buyers say customer-success stories directly shape their purchasing decisions, and a majority of McKinsey's prospective clients say case studies influence which firm they choose to hire. You will treat that evidence as a mandate to grow the reach, volume, and credibility of named cases, storytelling about our partners, copy to promote our highest-priority marketing initiatives, and the New at McKinsey blog.
You will lead your team in developing every flagship story from concept to publication: identifying and prioritizing opportunities with partners and practice leaders, conducting interviews, drafting and editing for clarity and narrative impact, and holding every piece to a distinctive editorial standard. You will manage the complex, multi-stakeholder approval processes every client story requires, coordinating partners, client stakeholders, practice leadership, and risk reviewers, and keep stories moving toward publication without compromising editorial integrity. You will partner with design and production colleagues on visual treatment, video, and interactive formats, and you will work with editorial, brand marketing, communications, and client activation colleagues to amplify published stories across all McKinsey's owned and social channels.
You will manage a small team of editors, setting priorities, coaching craft, and scaling output to match McKinsey's ambitions for this program. You will work closely with a large set of adjacent editors also charged with developing impact storytelling alongside insights publishing. You will use generative AI tools to accelerate drafting and build repeatable templates and workflows, freeing up time for the editorial judgment only a human can bring. You will track engagement and business-development metrics for the portfolio, use them to sharpen strategy, and represent impact storytelling in conversations with senior partners and McKinsey leadership.
Your work sits at the center of one of our highest-priority initiatives, with direct visibility to senior partners and firm leadership. As McKinsey continues to invest in client-backed storytelling, you will have the opportunity to shape the strategy and operating model for this program, expand the team and its remit, and help define how AI reshapes editorial work across McKinsey's Global Publishing & Brand Marketing portfolio.
