Status: This is a full-time; hourly position
Hours: Monday - Thursday: 6am - 4:30pm & Friday: 6am - 12pm; overtime as needed

JOB SUMMARY: The sawyer is responsible for operating various electric saws to separate material from deposits and shape blocks to size for production use.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Accurate saw setup and alignment to produce a safe, productive quality cut
• Special attention given to block roughbacks and highwall slides
• Setup and maintain moving wire warning system barricade
• String diamond wire through drilled holes or looping diamond wire for cutting
• Maintain adequate water supply for flushing and dust suppression
• Stripping, twisting and crimping wire
• Splice matching wire diameters to achieve equal wear and proper loop length rotation
• Maintain proper cutting parameters - direction, tension and speed
• Position work station so you can see people approaching and issue warnings for their protection
• Understand the safety concept of "line of fire" and "cone of danger"
• Perform daily workplace examination of your established work area.
• Operate company vehicles with a valid driver's license
• Understand all equipment operator manuals

Requirements

• This position spends 100% of the time outdoors. Quarry conditions can vary from extreme summer heat to below zero cold, wind and rain. Work area is usually wet. A possibility of extended travel to all Coldspring quarry locations with a willingness to fly.
• Must have the skill and understanding relative to the change the of the center of gravity when dividing heavy often miss-shaped material.
• Must be able to detected cracks and seams in the material.
• Must have the ability to recognize potential hazards.
• Should have general mechanical and electrical maintenance ability
