About the Company
Our client is a well-established global technology provider delivering satellite and space communications, wireless and terrestrial networks, and public-safety systems to commercial and government customers worldwide. The organization is investing in its next stage of growth and wants engineers who enjoy hard problems and take pride in shipping hardware that works.

The Opportunity
You will lead hardware design for the next generation of satellite modems. The role covers the full board lifecycle, from choosing components through schematic and layout, signal and power integrity analysis, and bring-up in the lab. You'll collaborate closely with teammates and engineering management, and you'll be a technical reference for less experienced engineers.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and document hardware for satellite modems and related products, including:
    • FPGA-based modem platforms implemented on custom PCBs
    • Component selection
    • Schematic capture and PCB layout
    • Signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis
    • Board bring-up, debug, and validation
  • Communicate clearly and work effectively with peers and engineering leadership

What You Bring

  • Strong background designing communications systems
  • Hands-on design experience with FPGAs, microprocessors, and supporting circuitry, along with memory technologies such as DDR/LPDDR, Flash, SPI NOR, and eMMC
  • Experience designing clock distribution networks, including PLLs, fanout buffers, differential and single-ended signaling, and termination strategies
  • Experience designing and analyzing power distribution networks
  • Familiarity with Ethernet PHYs and switch devices, SERDES interfaces, ADCs, and DACs
  • Comfort with lab instruments such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, and logic analyzers
  • Proficiency with standard office and diagramming tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Experience supporting multi-disciplinary, cross-functional, matrixed teams

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of satellite communications and SATCOM waveforms
  • RF and L-band design and layout knowledge
  • Soldering and rework skills
  • Track record of leadership and mentoring
  • Active DoD clearance, or ability to obtain one

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years of hardware design experience
