This position reports to the Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Operations.

Note on Working Time

This position must be available to work standard GT business hours M-F, 8-5 (or 7-4 or 9-6), as well as some evenings as weekends based on student programs and with advanced notice. Work Environment:

The Director of Strategic Operations works closely with OUESS leadership, unit directors, campus partners, and external stakeholders to advance strategic priorities, strengthen operational effectiveness, and support student success initiatives across the division.This position serves as a critical member of the OUESS leadership team and contributes to the division's mission through strategic thinking, operational excellence, collaborative leadership, and continuous improvement.

Job Summary

The Director - Strategic Operations oversees strategic initiatives and operations in support of a college or department. This position serves as an advisor to senior/executive leadership on a wide variety of administrative issues, sets and assesses administrative workload allocations and priorities, represents the college/department on committees, task forces, and working groups, and actively facilitates seamless communication between unit executives and internal/external partners. This position is responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Direct, plan, and administer the day-to-day administrative operations of a college or department; Advise senior/executive-level leadership in presenting critical issues; Serve as liaison between senior/executive-level leadership and other Institute entities

Job Duty 2 -
Oversee short and long-range planning for administrative services operations and improvements to processes. Establish and recommend changes to policies, procedures, and programs

Job Duty 3 -
Identify and facilitate cross-functional workgroups to develop, deliver, operationalize, document, and support projects and solutions. Lead and/or manage business improvement processes and strategic initiatives

Job Duty 4 -
Coordinate and oversee administrative support staffing needs and training; Supervise administrative staff and establish administrative workload allocations and priorities; Determine resources needed to meet administrative operational goals

Job Duty 5 -
Develop KPIs and metrics, monitor achievement, and establish program goals related to customer satisfaction, engagement, and outreach. Gather, analyze, and summarize data/metrics to improve service, soliciting ideas for improvements, additional service offerings, and communication suggestions

Job Duty 6 -
Oversee planning and administration of high-level/high-impact meetings and events; Represent senior leadership on committees, task forces, and working groups; Lead and manage senior leadership search and review processes

Job Duty 7 -
Develop, prepare, and maintain comprehensive program budgets in relation to staff engagement and development initiatives and events

Job Duty 8 -
Develop, coordinate, and implement project plans to support college or department initiatives to improve operations and administrative functions

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Six to eight years of job-related experience

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a complex higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and organizational change efforts.
  • Experience supporting executive-level leaders and managing strategic projects.
  • Experience with budget planning, assessment, analytics, and operational improvement initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

  • Strong ability to manage and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations and perform and effectively make important decisions under pressure
  • Strategic Operational Leadership: Direct divisional administrative and operational functions, establish priorities in collaboration with OUESS leadership, assess organizational needs, and implement strategies that advance divisional goals and operational effectiveness.
  • Project and Initiative Management: Lead cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives, coordinate stakeholders and workgroups, develop implementation plans, and support organizational improvements and executive-level priorities.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Advanced knowledge of business standards, principles, and methodologies; compliance policies and procedures; working knowledge of OneUSG and Workday; and o federal and state laws, institute policy, and regulations
  • Administrative Operations and Resource Management: Oversee administrative processes, workforce planning, staffing strategies, and resource allocation across OUESS. Collaborate with unit leadership to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and service delivery.
  • Assessment, Data Analytics, and Reporting: Develop performance metrics, analyze operational data, evaluate program effectiveness, and prepare executive reports and recommendations to support strategic planning and informed decision-making.

SKILLS

  • Expert in written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, people management, problem-solving, customer service, organization, strong attention to detail, interpersonal relationship building, budget planning, and creativity skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office products and problem-solving; strong attention to detail.
  • Budget and Financial Management: Lead divisional budget planning, development, monitoring, and year-end closeout activities. Serve as the primary liaison to the Office of the Provost finance team, provide guidance on financial planning and resource allocation, and ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • Organizational Leadership and Staff Development: Represent divisional leadership on committees and strategic initiatives. Supervise assigned staff, oversee performance management and professional development, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
