Job Summary

The Director-Facilities Operations and Events Student & Campus Event Center role is a unit leader, focused on cultivating spaces and opportunities on campus that promote student belonging and community engagement. This position is responsible for the comprehensive organization, administration, and management of event services, operations, and custodial services for various campus venues. This also includes outdoor venues, event reservations, expressive activities and classroom space management. The role combines strategic planning, financial management, facilities oversight, team leadership, and participation in emergency management to ensure a safe and expressive environment aligned with the institution's values. Impact and Influence: This position will engage regularly with Executive Leadership, students, staff, faculty, and guests. The advisory and counseling responsibilities primarily involve interactions with staff, students, and faculty. This position will supervise: Assigned Staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Collaborate with Division Leadership to establish strategic goals and make informed decisions.

Job Duty 2 -
Anticipate departmental needs and identify trends related to operations, events, custodial needs, and facility management for a 24/7 operation. Direct the vision and goals for the custodial, operations and, and event reservation teams, covering hiring, onboarding, training, and assessment for all staff.

Job Duty 3 -
Play a key role in designing and implementing a strategic plan for the SCEC facilities, encompassing space renovations, renewal, sustainability and capital improvements.

Job Duty 4 -
Establish and manage the operating budget in consultation with the leadership team. Oversee the procurement of building operation supplies and FFE. Evaluate current event costs and services, making recommendations on rate and price increases when necessary.

Job Duty 5 -
Serve as the Building Manager for campus facilities communication and serve on the emergency management team, providing on-call emergency support for Student and Campus Event Centers. Direct and administer the development and training of emergency protocols for the department.

Job Duty 6 -
Establish and manage the operating budget in consultation with Division Leadership. Evaluate current event costs and services, making recommendations on rate and price increases when necessary.

Job Duty 7 -
Oversee access control for Student and Campus Event Centers spaces in collaboration with campus partners. Manage access and compliance with policies, communicating with clients and stakeholders to ensure expressive activity and safeguard freedom of inquiry and expression.

Job Duty 8 -
Provide training and development for professional and student staff to ensure adequate skill development, cohesiveness, effective communication, and professionalism. Develop and direct policies related to the Student and Campus Event Centers venues and event services. Ensure personnel are current with necessary certifications, training, and safety policies.

Job Duty 9 -
Develop and sustain partnerships with various campus partners to meet the departmental mission and goals and align with Institute strategic priorities.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Required Certifications, Licenses or Permits:
Valid State of Georgia Driver's License or the ability to attain one

Required Experience
Eight to ten years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in Student Affairs Administration or Facility Management

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
o Strong demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population, handle a fast-paced environment and embrace change with flexibility, prioritize, give great attention to details, and work independently.
o Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. May be exposed to weather including extreme heat, toxic or caustic chemicals, and noise.

KNOWLEDGE
o Previous student union experience; facility management experience; use of event management systems
o Advanced knowledge of facility management; strong knowledge of event and operations management, project management, and fiscal accountability

SKILLS
o Advanced skills in written and verbal communication, training, organization, budget, and customer service; moderate skills in supervision, use of Microsoft Office products, and problem-solving
o Strong demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse population, handle a fast-paced environment and embrace change with flexibility, prioritize, give great attention to details, and work independently
