The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

The Computer Operator supports the day-to-day monitoring and operation of enterprise technology systems across RWJBarnabas Health. This position helps monitor systems, infrastructure, Technology Rooms, data centers, and operational alerts while assisting with incident response and maintaining accurate operational documentation.

Working within a 24/7/365 IT operations environment, the Computer Operator helps ensure issues are identified, documented, communicated, and escalated appropriately to support reliable technology operations across the organization.

• Monitoring enterprise systems, servers, networks, applications, data centers, Technology Rooms, and environmental alerts
• Reviewing operational alerts and performing initial triage and escalation of incidents, outages, and system issues
• Creating and updating ServiceNow tickets, operational logs, shift turnover reports, and other IT operations documentation
• Following established SOPs, runbooks, workflows, and escalation procedures
• Communicating with IT teams, vendors, leadership, and service lines during incidents and operational events
• Supporting incident response activities, operational bridge calls, and enterprise IT coordination efforts
• Performing operational walkthroughs and identifying infrastructure, environmental, or security concerns
• Supporting account, access, service request, and other operational activities through ServiceNow
• Maintaining awareness of scheduled maintenance, active incidents, outages, and outstanding operational issues
• Providing clear shift turnover to ensure continuity within the 24/7 IT operations environment

• You are comfortable monitoring multiple systems and responding to alerts in a fast-paced environment
• You are organized, detail-oriented, and able to follow documented technical procedures
• You communicate clearly and know when to escalate an issue for additional support
• You are comfortable working within a 24/7/365 operational environment

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 0-2 years of experience in IT operations, help desk, technical support, or a related operational environment
• Basic understanding of IT infrastructure concepts, including networks, servers, applications, and monitoring systems
• Ability to follow documented procedures, SOPs, runbooks, and operational workflows
• Strong communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced IT operations environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework or training in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field
• CompTIA A+ and/or CompTIA Network+ certification
• Experience with ServiceNow, Entuity, monitoring platforms, dashboards, or reporting tools
• Familiarity with Windows Server/Desktop and/or Linux/Unix
• Exposure to VMware, Citrix, Active Directory, or enterprise networking
• Exposure to PowerShell, AWS, Azure, or other cloud technologies
• Familiarity with load balancing technologies such as NetScaler or F5
• Exposure to converged or hyper-converged infrastructure
