Overview The Unit Assistant provides clerical support in the Emergency Department. Facilitates communication with other departments, visitors, patients, medical staff and employees. Serves as a public relations liaison for the unit. Qualifications Education: H.S. Diploma/GED Work Experience: Healthcare Preferred Responsibilities Answer incoming phone calls for the Emergency Department (ED). Manage patient admissions and discharges within the EPIC electronic medical record system. Complete data tracking and documentation for EKGs and telemetry boxes. Serve as a liaison between outside facilities, physicians, nursing staff, patients, and families. Collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and communication. Maintain and replenish office and nursing station supplies. Complete and maintain administrative paperwork for ED staff. Schedule non-emergent patient transportation. Facilitate communication between hospital departments, clinics, and nursing units. Notify nursing staff of required tests, examinations, and significant patient concerns. Support communication between physicians, patients, families, and clinical staff. Initiate and document daily Level 1 Trauma and Medical Alert system testing. Send and receive items through the pneumatic tube system. Submit work orders for facility and equipment issues. Remove, label, and route broken equipment to appropriate locations for repair. Monitor and coordinate patient flow within the Emergency Department. Provide clerical and operational support to ensure efficient department workflows. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $16.91per hour - $27.39per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
