As a Customer Development Chemist, you will be responsible for supporting developing and maintaining products for Auto OEM customers.

The base salary range for this position is $78,000 to $87,500, with the possibility of an annual bonus up to 4.5% of base salary. Key Responsibilities

  • Work with cross functional teams and support new color and product development, and technology cost and improvement projects.

  • Follow experimental procedures, produce reliable data, and demonstrate the ability to contribute to the design of experiments.

  • Lead independent projects or portions of larger projects.

  • Utilize project management skills, process technology, knowledge of manufacturing, process technology, business, and internal/external resources with some direction/guidance from a team leader or senior chemist.

  • Demonstrate commitment to goals through words and actions.

  • Foster a culture of innovation.

  • Application of root cause analysis and BPI tools to support resolution of technical, manufacturing, and field issues.

  • Support formula optimization and raw material initiative projects.

  • Knowledge of chemistry/coating technology supports manufacturing, business, cost optimization, and internal/external customers.

  • Seek new projects and does not avoid complex assignments.

  • Describe action plans to appropriate parties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Science Degree in Chemistry or related Engineering or Science field with 2 or more years of coating experience

  • Project management experience

  • Experience using statistical tools for data analysis

  • Experience in development of Primer and Basecoat (WB/SB), and Clear coat

  • Flexibility to join meeting with Japan during the nights/earlier mornings

  • Flexibility to support unexpected trials, manufacturing issues, line concerns during the night and weekends as needed.

  • Excellent knowledge of office packages and preferred basic knowledge on power BI, power automate and power apps.

  • Ability to travel up to 15%
