As a Customer Development Chemist, you will be responsible for supporting developing and maintaining products for Auto OEM customers. The base salary range for this position is $78,000 to $87,500, with the possibility of an annual bonus up to 4.5% of base salary. Key Responsibilities Work with cross functional teams and support new color and product development, and technology cost and improvement projects. Follow experimental procedures, produce reliable data, and demonstrate the ability to contribute to the design of experiments. Lead independent projects or portions of larger projects. Utilize project management skills, process technology, knowledge of manufacturing, process technology, business, and internal/external resources with some direction/guidance from a team leader or senior chemist. Demonstrate commitment to goals through words and actions. Foster a culture of innovation. Application of root cause analysis and BPI tools to support resolution of technical, manufacturing, and field issues. Support formula optimization and raw material initiative projects. Knowledge of chemistry/coating technology supports manufacturing, business, cost optimization, and internal/external customers. Seek new projects and does not avoid complex assignments. Describe action plans to appropriate parties. Qualifications Bachelor's Science Degree in Chemistry or related Engineering or Science field with 2 or more years of coating experience Project management experience Experience using statistical tools for data analysis Experience in development of Primer and Basecoat (WB/SB), and Clear coat Flexibility to join meeting with Japan during the nights/earlier mornings Flexibility to support unexpected trials, manufacturing issues, line concerns during the night and weekends as needed. Excellent knowledge of office packages and preferred basic knowledge on power BI, power automate and power apps. Ability to travel up to 15% #LI-onsite PPG /PPG
