MRO Specialist - Aerospace Sealants & Coatings

In the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Specialist role, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, accuracy, management, and optimization of inventory and non-inventory spare parts and indirect materials which are required to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. In this position you will be managing the end-to-end lifecycle of maintenance materials, tools and resources within the facility. You will also be directly supporting asset reliability, maintenance execution, and cost control strategies aligned with SMRP best practices. Lastly, you will ensure that critical production machinery, automated systems and utilities assets have 100% parts availability while adhering to all aerospace, federal, state, and corporate standards & regulations.

This is a On-site role reporting to the Shelby, NC facility. In this role you will report to the Asset Care & Maintenance Reliability Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage MRO inventory through criticality-based stocking, cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and optimization of carrying costs while maintaining required service levels.
  • Source, evaluate, onboard, and manage suppliers; issue RFQs and POs, negotiate pricing and lead times, expedite critical orders, and monitor supplier performance (OTIF, quality, and delivery).
  • Optimize storeroom operations by implementing 5S and visual management standards, eliminating obsolete or duplicate inventory, and ensuring proper storage of materials and sensitive components.
  • Maintain accurate CMMS/ERP data, including material masters and equipment BOMs; drive parts standardization, naming conventions, and KPI reporting.
  • Support maintenance and reliability efforts by identifying critical spares, ensuring parts availability, kitting materials and specialty tools for planned work, and participating in root cause analyses.
  • Monitor and report MRO spending, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support overall operational efficiency and site performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including proper material handling, documentation, SDS management, certifications, and shelf-life tracking.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma is required. An associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business or technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience of MRO, purchasing or crib management experience is required.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CMMS (SAP, Maximo, Asset Essentials, etc.) required. (3 yrs)
  • Experience with industrial equipment and spare parts. (1 yr)
