Corrections Food Service Instructor - SCI Muncy

As a Corrections Food Service Instructor with the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Muncy, you will play a key role in teaching important food service skills. This position leads inmate workers in food service operations and ensures that meals are prepared safely, correctly, and on schedule. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

• Food Preparation Instruction: Teach inmates how to prepare, cook, and serve food according to recipes and safety rules
• Sanitation Oversight: Inspect kitchen areas and equipment to ensure proper cleaning and safe food handling
• Supply Management: Receive, store, and rotate food items and supplies following established procedures
• Work Assignment Planning: Plan daily inmate work tasks and review completed assignments for accuracy and quality
• Performance Evaluation: Maintain records, evaluate inmate workers, and provide feedback on their progress
• Safety Enforcement: Maintain proper custody and control of inmates while ensuring safe operation of tools and equipment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Available work hours: 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM or 4:45 AM to 12:45 PM, with rotating days off. Work schedule and hours to be determined.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
