DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports daily office operations that help ensure accurate and timely processing of unemployment compensation payments. The role involves frequent communication with the public and agency partners while helping maintain smooth workflow. As an Administrative Assistant 1 in the Bureau of Unemployment Compensation Disbursements, you will perform the following duties:

  • Customer Support: Assist callers and email contacts with clear information and helpful guidance of payment related information
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain files and update information in internal systems
  • Payment Review: Support the review and handling of payment related information
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete office duties that support daily workflow and identify issues requiring follow-up
  • Project Participation: Take part in special projects and committee assignments when needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week, reporting to the office three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four-year degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credit.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have experience using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, web-based utilities or the ability to learn relevant software to perform job duties.
  • You must be able to report in-person to work in Harrisburg a minimum of three days a week.
  • You must have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team on assignments.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience providing customer service in a high-volume environment (phone, email, or in person)
  • Experience performing administrative or clerical work in an office setting
  • Experience using workflow systems such as OnBase, CMS, or similar document-management platforms
