Overview

Selective Insurance is recruiting for an Executive Assistant to provide high level administrative and operational support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), ensuring seamless execution of priorities in a fast-paced, highly confidential environment. This role manages complex calendars, coordinates executive communications, prepares materials for Board and leadership meetings, and facilitates cross-functional alignment on key initiatives. Acts as a trusted partner, exercising sound judgment, discretion, and proactive problem-solving to anticipate needs, streamlineworkflows, and enable effective decision-making. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out incompliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Prepares and manages executive-level communications including correspondence, presentations, reports, andmeeting materials; reviews all outputs for accuracy, quality, and alignment with executive standards whilemaintaining strict confidentiality and organized records.
  • Serves as a trusted partner to the CEO and CHRO, maintaining strong, responsive relationships with seniorleadership and applying a solid understanding of business operations, priorities, and internal practices toanticipate needs and support decision-making.
  • Manages executive communication flow, including screening and prioritizing calls and inquiries, exercisingsound judgment in routing matters, and ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Oversees executive correspondence and stakeholder engagement, responding on behalf of the CEO/CHRO asappropriate, managing sensitive or high-profile inquiries, and coordinating follow-up across the organization.
  • Coordinates complex executive operations, including calendar management, travel, and meeting logistics;prepares briefings and expense reporting; and supports key events and governance activities such as Boardmaterials, Board meetings, leadership forums, and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Partners across the organization to build business insight, facilitate information flow, and ensure alignment onpriorities; collaborates closely with administrative and functional teams to drive efficient execution.
  • Optimizes executive effectiveness by handling routine administrative responsibilities, managing office flow,and serving as a professional point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including visitors.
  • Aggregates and synthesizes critical information for the CEO and CHRO, ensuring they are well-informed andprepared for engagements, decisions, and strategic discussions.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and standard officetechnologies, with the ability to produce executive-quality materials efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion andsound judgment.
  • Strong independent judgment and decision-making capability, including the ability to act on behalf ofexecutives and navigate priorities in their absence.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including advanced editing, composition, andproofreading capabilities with strong attention to grammar and detail.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt in a fast-pacedenvironment, and consistently deliver high-quality work.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to interact effectively andprofessionally across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, human resources, or a related field, orequivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible executive administrative support, including directsupport to C-suite leaders, with demonstrated experience in managing complex schedules, Board materials,and highly confidential business matters.
  • Experience in a corporate, fast-paced environment with exposure to senior leadership, governanceprocesses, and cross-functional coordination; prior experience supporting both business and HR leadershipis preferred.
  • Proven track record of exercising sound judgment, managing competing priorities, and delivering high quality work with minimal supervision in a high-visibility role.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
