The Computer Configuration Technician is responsible for preparing, configuring, testing, and validating computer hardware and software in alignment with standardized procedures, security requirements, and systemdriven workflows. This role ensures accurate execution of configuration tasks, maintains data integrity within the enterprise system, and supports efficient deployment of IT assets across the organization.
A Typical Day in the Life Includes:
- System Configuration - Configure desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices according to approved images, profiles, and configuration standards.
- Software Deployment - Install and validate operating systems, applications, drivers, and updates using automated deployment tools and documented procedures.
- Hardware Preparation - Inspect, assemble, and prepare hardware components; perform diagnostics to ensure equipment meets performance and quality requirements.
- Enterprise System Transactions - Record configuration steps, asset details, and deployment status within the enterprise platform (e.g., Infor CloudSuite, ITSM, or asset management systems) to maintain realtime accuracy.
- Quality & Compliance - Follow security protocols, configuration baselines, and audit requirements to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshooting - Identify and resolve configuration issues, escalate complex problems, and collaborate with IT support, engineering, or security teams as needed.
- Documentation Management - Maintain accurate configuration records, update work instructions, and ensure all documentation reflects current standards.
- Continuous Improvement - Support process optimization initiatives aligned with Lean, 5S, and Infordriven best practices to enhance throughput and reduce rework.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience in computer hardware/software configuration, IT support, or technical assembly.
- Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows, macOS, or Linux systems.
- Familiarity with imaging tools, deployment utilities, and asset management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to configuration accuracy.
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, connectivity testing).
- Ability to follow structured workflows and meet production or deployment deadlines.
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Infor CloudSuite, ITSM platforms, or enterprise asset management systems.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent technical credentials.
- Experience in highvolume configuration, staging, or deployment environments.
- Knowledge of security standards, encryption tools, and compliance frameworks.
