The Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor oversees the work of an assigned group of Environmental Services employees for a premier medical facility client of Aquent. This role ensures that proper sanitization and maintenance procedures are strictly followed by staff, while monitoring the ordering and utilization of departmental supplies and materials. This position directly supervises specialized cleaning and maintenance protocols unique to an acute care hospital environment and holds ultimate accountability for the environmental maintenance and quality across multiple hospital areas.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Staffing & Scheduling: Create, maintain, and optimize staff schedules. Plan, schedule, and direct personnel to assigned areas of the hospital and its satellite facilities while monitoring workflows to improve service quality and efficiency.
  • Performance Management: Evaluate staff work habits, performance, and attendance. Document metrics and provide clear recommendations regarding employee retention, promotions, or corrective actions in alignment with hospital policies and labor agreements.
  • Training & Compliance: Train staff on precise cleaning and disinfecting techniques, the proper use of chemical agents and equipment, and the collection/disposal of infectious materials. Ensure strict compliance with safety, sanitation, and legal regulations.
  • Quality Assurance Tours: Regularly tour and inspect each assigned area of the hospital to monitor cleanliness and evaluate work in progress. Perform daily Patient Satisfaction rounds to solicit immediate patient feedback and ensure service standards are consistently met.
  • Leadership & Reporting: Act as a vital communication link between front-line staff and upper management. Participate in the hiring process by screening, interviewing, and recommending candidates, while maintaining required operational records, statistics, and reports.
  • On-Call Availability: Remain available for on-call shifts during non-standard hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays) to respond to emergencies. This position may receive additional compensation if assigned as part of the Facilities Services & Planning (FS&P) Leader on Call Program.


Qualifications
Education

  • Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline or field from an accredited college or university.


Experience

  • Required: Proven experience managing $ge 25$ full-time employees.
  • Preferred: Prior leadership experience within a unionized environment.
  • Preferred: Direct experience navigating Joint Commission regulations and surveys.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Clinical EVS Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge of professional floor care treatment and infection prevention/Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) mitigation practices.
  • Regulatory Discretion: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of personnel records and patient information under HIPAA regulations and hospital policies.
  • Operational Agility: Ability to exercise initiative, apply sound judgment, work under pressure in a fast-paced setting, and manage a high-volume workload with accuracy while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills to gather, analyze, and present information clearly. Ability to establish cooperative and productive working relationships across all medical, professional, administrative, and support personnel.
  • Technical Toolkit: Proficiency with basic office equipment and modern computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases), alongside the ability to quickly master proprietary staffing and scheduling software.


The target hiring compensation range for this role is $64.70 to $69.41 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
