Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages and directs admissions to hospital
  • Assists with daily in-patient staffing activities
  • Schedules and coordinates nursing service personnel (float pool, sitters, shift coordinators)
  • Maintains staff scheduling data and provides education to new nursing leaders
  • Calculates nursing time sheets and submits to payroll.
  • Monitors entries into payroll software. Approves time cards
  • Contributes to cost reduction efforts by assisting Directors to review staffing levels with regard to patient census
  • Schedules meetings, takes minutes as requested, and provides general secretarial support.
  • Maintains, updates, and distributes nursing policies and procedures.
  • Schedules and prepares course materials for educational programs. Submits completed course materials to appropriate agency.
  • Coordinates agency nursing contracts, scheduling and reconciling payments
  • Inputs data for statistical information and reports.
  • Maintains confidentiality of personnel records/discussions and of patient information.
  • Maintains personnel files for nursing support staff
  • Contributes to cost reduction efforts by assisting Directors to review staffing levels with regard to patient census
  • Prepares, maintains, and distributes patient totes to units
  • Maintains and updates MD call schedule
  • Prepares and distributes calendars for conference rooms G206 and G210
  • Registers and scores personnel for Mercy Learning Center

Education and Experience

High school diploma
Previous hospital and clerical experience.
Knowledge of medical terminology beneficial.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel Database software; Kronos Payroll systems and Microsoft Office Word Processing software.
