Title: Harm Reduction Outreach Coordinator $ 57,761.60 - $84,260.80 / Posted Thru: 6/30/2026 Location: Remote/Virtual - Must live and work in Michigan Purpose: This position functions as a professional to support state and local public health officials, syringe service programs, and other stakeholders in the implementation, review, and analysis of overdose prevention efforts and services across the state of Michigan. Specifically, the Harm Reduction Outreach Coordinator is tasked with increasing access to overdose prevention education and naloxone capacity in Michigan, as well as supporting statewide harm reduction and overdose prevention efforts. This includes, but is not limited to, building relationships and supporting the integration of various public health services, providing direction and technical assistance to stakeholders and grantees, identifying resources for naloxone box implementation, assisting with community overdose prevention education, and coordinating data collection, program evaluation, program monitoring, and progress reporting to grantors. This position will also have a specialized focus in engaging with populations disproportionately impacted by the opioid crisis. Duties and Responsibilities:
Qualifications/Requirements: Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in public health, health communication, health policy, or a public health-related field such as nursing, epidemiology, health education, social work, public or business administration with a health care concentration. Will consider candidates with a combination of education and experience as it relates to the duties and responsibilities of the position. Experience: A minimum of 2 years working in a public health, healthcare, or health education role at an agency such as a local, state, or federal health department, a community-based organization, or health system. Personal or professional experience with populations who use or inject substances is desired. Important Skills and Characteristics:
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Standard office and/or telework environment. Will require extensive travel to maintain program effectiveness as well as in-person statewide meetings and trainings. Requires a valid vehicle operator's license needed to perform the duties of the position. Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% of the time. RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibilities. IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: As part of the Harm Reduction and Viral Hepatitis Prevention Unit, the Harm Reduction Outreach Coordinator will work closely with community-based partners to increase Michigan's overdose prevention capacity. The primary goal is to help Michiganders live longer, healthier, and more productive lives through equitable access to naloxone medication and education. REQUIRED COMMUNICATION
