DESCRIPTION

The mission of the Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer's Disease Research Center in the Department of Neurosciences is to improve understanding of the causes, clinical features, and potential treatments of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, working toward the ultimate goal of preventing or eradicating Alzheimer's disease and related memory disorders.

Under supervision, the incumbent will provide support to the PI on a program of research that aims to evaluate age-associated disorders of cognition, particularly Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Major responsibilities will include assisting with participant recruitment, scheduling, and retention of participants; administering cognitive assessments; collecting, scoring, auditing, and processing study data; preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials; and maintaining study databases. General lab assistance duties include processing biofluid samples, monitoring equipment and lab supplies, preparing data collection packets, and assorted research-related laboratory, computer, and administrative tasks as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Theoretical knowledge of psychology or other related field preferred as typically attained by a bachelor's degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience administering psychometric tests or clinical interviews in a research setting.

  • Proven ability to administer a battery of cognitive, neuropsychological, clinical, and functional assessments with confirmed reliability with other raters or a gold standard according to study protocol.

  • Proven effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently.

  • Proven ability to engage effectively and comfortably with older adults, including those with cognitive impairment.

  • Previous experience in a research setting, preferably involving older adults or psychiatric patients.

  • Ability to maintain and protect confidentiality of participant information.

  • Experience collecting, coding, and scoring data using computerized and pencil and paper measures according to study protocol.

  • Experience recruiting patient and control participants for research studies.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with data management.

  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software.

  • Fully balanced English-Spanish bilingual with both oral and written language proficiency highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to function at a professional level in oral and written fluency in both languages.

  • Experience in blood draw and processing highly preferred.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $59,905 - $71,451 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $28.69 - $34.22

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
