Overview

The Dispatch Agent III is responsible for overseeing and documenting the pickup and delivery of local shipments, as well as coordinating and communicating shipment information between drivers and delivery agents.



Responsibilities


    Responsible for routing local freight, dispatching drivers, performing dock checks, tracking shipments, working with dock staff members to ensure movement of freight.

  • Provide customer service to identify and meet specific customer needs. Answer/make customer inquiry calls and address customer concerns/complaints.
  • Timely event data entry of shipment milestones into MyAIT & AS400 tracking system - pickup, delivery, obtain proof of delivery.
  • Identifying and coordinating the prioritization of rushed/urgent/last minute shipments.
  • Obtaining quotes and coordinating distribution of information to outside specialty vendors.
  • Assign driver load planning based on local mapping & appointments accordingly.
  • Apply the proper tariff and charges around cartage billing and driver settlements.
  • Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary.
  • Undergo regular Safety & Compliance training and adhere to all provided regulations in alignment with DOT/FMCSA standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education
* High School Diploma or GED (Required)

* Some College/Associate's Degree (Preferred)

Experience
* 5+ years in Freight Forwarding industry experience preferred and/or industry experience in customer service/operations. (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Proficient in Microsoft Office

* Previous Experience working with AS400 preferred.

* Strong problem solving and multi-tasking skills with abilities to develop new ideas and innovative solutions.

* High attention to details and organization.

* Strong geographic and mapping skills. Sense of direction and coordination to build routes.

* Great interpersonal and communication skills with customers, drivers, and co-workers-communication is key!
