Your Role:
The Laboratory Specialist supports daily laboratory operations by performing hands on activities related to equipment readiness, material management, inventory control, and compliance within GMP laboratory environments. This role ensures that laboratory spaces, equipment, and supplies are maintained in a state of control and are available to support QC, R&D, and operational workflows. The Laboratory Specialist works under the Senior Lab Manager to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant laboratory operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and 5S standards across assigned lab spaces.
- Monitor laboratory consumable levels, perform daily Kanban restocking, and ensure materials are within expiration and stored properly.
- Execute receiving, labeling, and distribution of chemicals, reagents, and consumables.
- Support equipment setup and relocation activities under the direction of the Senior Lab Manager.
Equipment Support
- Perform routine equipment checks, including verifying operating conditions and reporting deviations or malfunctions.
- Assist with preventive maintenance, calibration scheduling, and coordination with vendors.
- Maintain equipment logs, maintenance records, and usage tracking documentation.
- Support equipment qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) as required.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure laboratory operations comply with EHS policies, GMP requirements, and 21 CFR Part 11 guidance when applicable.
- Support audits and inspections by maintaining accurate documentation and demonstrating readiness.
- Maintain chemical inventory, SDS documentation, and proper waste disposal in accordance with safety regulations.
- Participate in safety drills, inspections, and corrective actions.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Update and create SOPs, work instructions, and forms related to laboratory operations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including workflow optimization and space utilization projects.
- Identify inefficiencies or gaps in laboratory processes and escalate proposed solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Biotech, or related field); At least one year of experience in a laboratory environment; GMP/QC or regulated lab experience preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and common analytical or cellbased equipment.
- Experience with inventory systems, Kanban, or ERP platforms (SAP experience preferred).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask across shared laboratory spaces.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job is performed in a temperature-controlled facility without exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Generally, this job is performed in a sanitized laboratory setting and routinely uses standard medical and research equipment such as centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, microscopes, incubators, pipettes and computers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to blood, viruses (e.g., HIV-1), bacteria, body fluids and other tissues which may be infectious and have the potential to cause disease. Employees entering and leaving the laboratory must wear appropriate clothing and protective equipment such as scrubs, coveralls, masks, face shield, glasses and gloves. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The anticipated base salary range has been established at $30.35 - $35.72/per hour. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialization, skills, abilities, and training. The above salary range represents the Company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. In addition to your salary, the Company offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, plus a 401(k) plan. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses or commissions.
