Odyssey Systems is looking for high-performing, passionate people ready to make a difference by joining our existing team of dedicated professionals supporting Space Domain Awareness. We have an exciting new opportunity providing Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) supporting the US Space Force mission to defend National Security Interests in Space as a Space Surveillance Telescope (SST) Systems Engineer providing Engineering Support as a member of the SST System Program Office (SPO) in Combat Forces Command (CFC), Mission Delta 2 (MD2), Second Sustainment Squadron (2STS). The SST is a 3.5m aperture wide field of view telescope located near Howard E. Holt Naval Station in Australia. Its mission is to synoptically search the area of regard over the telescope and discover objects in orbits ranging from low-Earth (LEO) to cis-lunar. Discoveries are correlated against known satellite catalogs (also known as the tactical order of battle), with this tracking data then shared with Command and Control (C2) centers in Australia and the US. The SST is remotely operated out of a combined sensor operations center near Perth, Australia. 2STS is the U.S. Space Force organization responsible for sustaining and modernizing resilient space capabilities supporting Battle Management, Command, Control, Communication, and Space Intelligence (BMC3I). 2STS synchronizes sustainment efforts with Mission Deltas to improve mission readiness and works together with Space Systems Command (SSC) on acquisition efforts for critical space system capabilities for CFC. Odyssey Systems provides support to the Government in five areas: Product Support, Sustainment Engineering & Sustainment Management, Technical Order Management, Technical User Interface, and System Design, Engineering, and Integration. These tasks are executed laterally with USSF SSC/SZG depot and development contractors and with BMC3I stakeholders. This is a full-time position at 2424 Garden of the Gods Road with occasional work at Peterson SFB and Schriever SFB in Colorado Springs, CO and the opportunity to telework 1 to 2 days per week at the discretion of the Government. Responsibilities An A&AS contractor is a knowledgeable and trusted advisor to the Government Program Office. As a Space Surveillance Telescope (SST) Systems Engineer you will perform engineering analysis, planning, interface design, and provide engineering support for the SST mission system in SYD 85. The ideal candidate will be an engineer with telescope optics and/or telescope operations experience. The ideal candidate can rapidly become educated on the SST mission system and its the unique subsystems, evaluate the cost/benefit of many potential technical solutions, and make recommendations to the Delta or the CFC for how to proceed. You will also create plans for future modernization of the system. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide engineering oversight, support and management for Technical Assistance (TA) requests and Emergency or Urgent Depot Level Maintenance (E/UDLM) requests from the operational site
