We are hiring a Conflicts Attorney who will be a member of the Conflicts Team and work closely with the Office of General Counsel to support the Firm's critical risk management function and is primarily responsible for reviewing and analyzing conflict reports in connection with business intake (new clients and matters) and laterals. This is a fully remote (US), 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. PST with flexibility to visit or work from a local office.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do:

  • Review complex conflict reports for new clients/matters and laterals; advise partners on legal and business risk and resolution paths.
  • Draft and negotiate conflict waivers; prepare and implement ethical walls/screening memoranda
  • Audit and improve new business intake data, forms and engagement terms
  • Analyze lateral matter lists; resolve conflicts with partners and laterals, including waiver strategy.
  • Guide conflict analysts on best practices, corporate family tree research, matter maintenance, report preparation and other related research and analysis.
  • Prepare communications to attorneys, clearly identifying all potential issues and assist with the business and ethical conflict resolution.
  • Monitor changes in ethics rules, opinions, and case law affecting conflicts of interest
  • Research appropriate conflict and ethical rules.

  • Be available for urgent matters and periodic on-call rotation, occasional weekends, and certain holidays as needed.


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • JD and active law license in NY, DC or CA required
  • 4 years of conflicts-attorney experience preferred; preferable experience in a multi-office, large international law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of US professional conduct rules including ethical, legal and risk management rules, including NY Rules of Professional Conduct, American Bar Association's Model Rules of Professional Conduct and rules governing professional conduct of lawyers in the UK, Germany and Asia is preferred.
  • Excellent research, analysis and partner-facing communication skills

Target Compensation:

$190K-225K
