Position Title: Procurement Agent

Location: Durham, NC (On-site)

Job Summary:

The Procurement Agent is based at Bell and Howell's Durham, NC HQ office, with operations throughout the U.S. and Canada, and reports directly to the Procurement Manager. This position has overall responsibility for purchasing materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. The Procurement Agent addresses basis levels of procurement support including pricing and product availability with some assistance.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Tracks purchases, monitors supplier quality, and maintains systems with supplier information.
  • Coordinates purchasing activities with service, manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Processes purchase requisitions, purchase change orders, and requests for quotes to suppliers.
  • Runs required reports and take required subsequent action as required.
  • Resolves accounts payable issues.
  • Provides procurement input to support the reduction of excess and obsolescence inventory.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  • May perform strategic sourcing activities with assistance.

Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities):



  • Basic working knowledge of business, supplier relations, supplier negotiations and contracts preferred.
  • Working knowledge of material flow processes preferred.
  • Computer skills: Working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office products, production planning systems and Engineering change process.
  • Working SAP knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions along with considering alternative and diverse perspectives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, quantitative, and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand, remember and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a team.


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's or Business Degree with 2-4 years' experience in the procurement and/or materials management function or manufacturing related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Travel:



  • This position requires some travel in the United States and Canada.


Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Ability to type on a keyboard.
  • Ability to hear and talk.
  • Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Requires close vision for computer work and reviewing correspondence.
  • Work is performed in a controlled office and manufacturing environment, noise levels within acceptable safety levels, paper dust, etc.
