DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will help maintain state game lands by supporting construction, habitat work, equipment use, and outdoor maintenance activities. You will play an important role in keeping public access areas safe and improving habitat for wildlife. As a Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Habitat Maintenance: Develop habitat areas, maintain openings, and use tools such as chain saws to improve wildlife habitat
- Equipment Operation: Operate or assist with operating heavy equipment, machinery, and tools for construction and land management
- Trail and Access Work: Build and maintain parking areas, trails, gates, and public access routes on game lands
- Environmental Tasks: Assist with prescribed burns, herbicide work, and snow removal activities as needed
- Boundary and Signage: Maintain boundary lines, post informational signs, and help survey new or existing land tracts
- Wildlife Support: Assist wildlife officers with wildlife-related duties such as handling road-killed animals and supporting special management areas
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. AWS (alternate work schedule) may be available.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment; or
- One year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment; or
- One year of construction equipment operation experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
- This position requires the selected candidate to obtain an active Class A Commercial Driver's License within one year of employment in this job.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
