Corrections Activities Specialist - SCI Mercer

This position focuses on planning and guiding recreation programs that support positive use of inmate leisure time. As a Corrections Activities Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

• Program Leadership: Lead a variety of structured activities, sports, and wellness programs
• Instruction Delivery: Provide coaching, guidance, and instruction to individuals and groups
• Program Evaluation: Assess inmate interests and review program effectiveness to recommend improvements
• Facility Oversight: Oversee the setup, care, and use of recreation areas and equipment
• Record Management: Maintain program records and prepare reports in line with agency standards
• Resource Coordination: Assist with supply requests and guide volunteers who support program activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree with major course work in recreation and physical education; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
