Summary: Oversee Secondary Operations (Barcoding and Fabrication) personnel and production, work to maximize operator and machine utilization while ensuring safe work practices, quality products and controlled inventory. Respond to down machinery via protocol, oversee repair material and supplies needed for optimal run times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position reports directly to and will receive directions from the Superintendent-Secondary Operations. The primary responsibility of the Secondary Operations Supervisor is to safely and efficiently perform top-quality operational duties on a daily basis which include (but are not limited to) the following:
Must be able to work 3rd Shift: Sunday to Friday, 10:45pm to 7am, working 48 hours/week. This is a fully onsite role. Must be able to commute daily to our Brownsville, TN plant. Supervisory Responsibilities: Lead and direct current employees to achieve daily performance goals. Support compliance with established policies and procedures. Support training initiatives and track progress. Escalate non-conformities, failures, non-compliant behavioral problems or poor workmanship according to the policy and procedures of Westlake. Provide constructive feedback to employees and issue discipline as necessary. Qualifications: Knowledge of a standard production environment. Knowledge of pipe fittings by fit, form and function is a plus. Must have sufficient understanding of good manufacturing practices. Ability to lead a large number of employees in daily production processes. Ability to manage inventory in and out of department. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Mechanical aptitude required. Results driven with ability to manage change while keeping a positive environment. Proven competency in computing skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Share Point, Outlook) and ERP Systems. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies. Language Skills: Ability to read, write and comprehend English to follow work instructions. Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills and counting ability required. Reasoning Ability: A good memory for part numbers. Ability to sort out several problems at one time. Must be able to relate to all personnel he/she comes in contact with. Ability to get along and be able to interface with other Westlake Pipe & Fittings associates. Must be able to operate a pallet jack and remove full pallets from the secondary operations areas to the finished goods warehouse. Good hand and eye coordination for working on parts labeling. Ability to walk and/or stand for periods up to 12 hours at a time. Equipment used includes, but is not limited to: pallet jacks, knives, tape guns, barcode applicator machine, label printers, RF scanner.
