Join the Department of Agriculture as a Limited Full-time Forest Technician and help protect Pennsylvania's natural landscapes. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports statewide efforts to detect and control the Spotted Lanternfly through field surveys and pest management activities. As a Limited Full-time Forest Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Pest Surveys: Conduct pest surveys, inspect trees, communicate with property owners, and place or maintain traps
- Specimen Handling: Collect insect samples from traps and submit them to headquarters staff for identification
- Site Assessments: Evaluate properties to determine suitability for pest treatment or survey activities
- Data Entry: Enter survey and site information accurately following established protocols
- Pesticide Use: Apply pesticides safely to control the Spotted Lanternfly or its host plants
- Activity Logging: Maintain a weekly log of survey duties and field activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time, limited term employment
- This position is federally funded and will continue based on funding availability.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is based at the home headquarters, which includes the counties of Bedford, Blair, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata and Mifflin. You will be expected to travel in the field for this position.
- This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate's degree in forest technology; or
- Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
