The M.S. in Communication Data Science program, offered jointly by the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and the Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California, seeks a qualified Adjunct Instructor to supplement instruction offered by our full-time faculty, specifically to teach COMM 587: Applied Quantitative Methods. This course prepares students to contribute effectively to modern data and analytics teams by building both technical fluency and communication skills. Drawing on students' foundational knowledge of data science, the course emphasizes translating complex statistical concepts for collaborators and non-technical stakeholders. Students complete a capstone project and portfolio incorporating enterprise tools such as Spark, GitHub, and Tableau, suitable for showcasing to prospective employers. Candidates must have significant experience in data science, communication, and/or a track record of relevant teaching experience.

Requirements for consideration include a B.A., B.S., M.S., or an M.A. degree in a related field.Previous teaching experience is desirable.For some courses, outstanding professional experience may be substituted for academic credentials.

The hourly range for this position is $37.88 - $46.96. USC reserves the "Adjunct" appointment for faculty teaching less than full-time at USC who are employed full-time in a primary profession or career elsewhere. Adjunct faculty typically teach only one course per year, but in exceptional cases, may teach one course per semester, if approved by the dean.
