REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

The Family Success Administration Division provides emergency assistance and case management services through four essential programs, including the Emergency Assistance Program, Financial Capability Program, and the Community Action Agency's Low-Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP) and Community Services Block Grant Program (CSBG). These programs work together to prevent the residents of Broward County from experiencing homelessness, evictions, foreclosures, loss of electric and water services and assist with tuition, financial management, employment, transportation, nutrition, and childcare. The Programs provide one-stop direct services in partnership with community-based providers assisting residents to achieve and maintain health, safety, and economic stability.

The Community Action Agency (CAA) is seeking a dedicated professional to coordinate job placement and employment services that empower customers to achieve long-term success. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires an Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business or public administration or closely related field.
(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires four (4) years in staff administration, management, and organization in job placement and/or employment services or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses

Possess and maintain a valid FL Class E Drivers License

Preferences
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in related field
  • Experience in social services field
  • Strong negotiation and networking abilities
  • Skilled at developing and delivering clear, effective presentations
  • Certified Employment Support Profession, Certified Workforce Development Professional or similar certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish; English/Creole)

SCOPE OF WORK

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

  • Coordinate all aspects of job placement and employment services for the Community Action Agency (CAA).
  • Assist in developing program guidelines and procedures, updating standardized forms, and identifying appropriate assessment and evaluation tools.
  • Provide employment services including job coaching, employability training and workshops, work experience opportunities, job placement, and job retention support.
  • Maintain a caseload and regular contact with customers.
  • Collect demographic and customer data, track progress, and submit information required for performance reporting.
  • Maintain case files in accordance with program requirements.
  • Identify community partners and connect customers to available resources.
  • Collaborate with the local workforce agency to help customers access needed services.
  • Participate in and coordinate resource fairs, job fairs, and other events with community organizations and local businesses.
  • Conduct community outreach to promote agency programs and services.
  • Use a variety of office software applications, including database, spreadsheet, and presentation tools, to prepare documents, forms, and related materials.
  • Compose correspondence, notifications, forms, reports, and other documents to communicate information to staff and the public.
  • Participate in administrative and staff meetings, case staffing's, and consultations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
