Position Summary:

Manage high-impact solicitations fueling breakthroughs at universities, national labs, and industry partners. Your peer review expertise ensures critical funding flows to scientists and engineers solving tomorrow's most complex challenges.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop funding opportunities and strategies for important aspects.
  • Work with the Department of Energy for contract management, eligibility questions, and documentation questions from external applicants.
  • Perform initial compliance reviews for funding opportunity and data analysis compiling reviews.
  • Recruit peer reviewers by reading proposals and finding the best experts to review, manage the peer review process, host review panels, and review feedback to peer reviewers.
  • Compile final recommendation documentation for the Department of Energy.
  • Interface with internal and external partners for developing funding opportunity documents.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to managers and other partners.
  • Communicate funding opportunities to internal and external individuals, which includes developing and presenting slides and acting as the point of contact for questions.
  • Perform complex work tasks with little or no direction, based on in-depth knowledge of program elements and contracting principles.

Required:

  • Level 1: Recent graduate (within the past 12 months) with a bachelor's degree in public policy, business management, data analytics, information Management or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Level 2: Recent graduate (within the past 12 months) with a Master's degree in public policy, business management, data analytics, information Management or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • This position is subject to export control restrictions per the Department of Energy. For this reason, you must be either a US Citizen or a US Green Card holder to qualify for the job.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Familiarity with data manipulation and management in database systems such as FedConnect, Portfolio Analysis and Management System (PAMS), Grants. Gov, PICS, or similar systems.
  • Experience working directly with DOE.
  • Knowledge of nuclear science and engineering topics.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, operate a computer keyboard or type, handle materials, or reach with hands and arms performing the essential functions of the classification. The duties require sitting for long periods, accessing stored file boxes and file cabinets and moving and organizing physical file materials. The employee must occasionally lift 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus, conduct research and inspect materials. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions, communicate effectively in person, by telephone or electronic mail. While performing the duties of this classification, the employee works in an office setting where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Job Information:

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Solicitation and Peer Review Specialist to work on our NE External Innovation Integration Office team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 1 $58,704 to $63,228 / Level 2 $71,100 to $76,560. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
