About This Position

The TKC Legal Affairs Department is a team that works closely with the TKC lines of business and currently includes 5 attorneys, a paralegal, and a legal assistant. TKC Holdings Inc. is a privately held holding company which owns Keefe Group, LLC and affiliate companies Trinity Services Group, Inc. and Courtesy Products, LLC. Trinity, Keefe and Courtesy have over 5,000 employees nationwide and revenues are expected to be near $2 billion for the calendar year 2026.

TKC Holdings, Inc. has an immediate opening for an Assistant Counsel. The successful candidate will have substantial litigation experience, as well as experience working as, or a desire to work as, a generalist, providing legal advice and counsel to various corporate constituencies across TKC. TKC's companies include Keefe Group, LLC, Trinity Services Group, Inc. and Courtesy Products, LLC's which operate various businesses within the correctional supply and hotel supply markets. This position will ensure the competent and timely provision of legal services, including direct litigation of TKC's Section 1983 inmate litigation case load. The Assistant Counsel will have also have the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects covering employment law, commercial contracting and regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Direct management and work-up of Trinity, Keefe, and Courtesy's litigation portfolio which includes inmate litigation (Section 1983 actions), general commercial litigation, employment litigation, and product liability litigation, including drafting of pleadings, conducting discovery, motion practice, first-chair trial responsibilities, appellate practice, and the utilization and management of outside counsel where appropriate.
  • Managing and assisting internal clients in addressing all legal issues pertaining to various litigation, contract, and regulatory matters consistent with the organization's business philosophy and strategy, and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting the Chief Legal Officer in achieving cost-containment of the litigation portfolio and legal matters through the usage of AI tools and solutions.
  • Responding to pre-suit or not-in-suit matters including subpoenas, consumer complaints, and governmental inquiries.
  • Providing management and operating personnel with timely and accurate interpretations of various cases, laws and regulations affecting Trinity, Keefe and Courtesy's businesses and keeping them apprised of the types of action that require legal consideration, potential risk exposure, and regulatory/compliance action.
  • Providing ongoing strategic planning, guidance and consultation regarding potential and actual disputes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

  • A juris doctorate from an accredited, recognized law school is required.
  • The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of professional excellence and achievement with at least five (5) years of legal experience in a recognized law firm or in a corporate law department.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and oral and written legal and business communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and process, including excellent litigation skills.
  • Effective team player.
  • High level of professional integrity and uncompromising ethical standards.
  • Must be a member of a state bar in good standing.
