Description

Position Summary: The Environmental Manager is responsible for overseeing environmental compliance on projects and to provide support and guidance to environmental inspectors and project management teams to ensure full compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and contractual obligations.

Role and Responsibilities:



  • Ability to competently manage multiple construction projects in a defined area for environmental compliance.
  • Strong and proven knowledge of federal water, air and waste environmental regulations.
  • Ability to quickly obtain state and local knowledge of environmental regulations related to various construction activities/projects.
  • Responsible for overseeing environmental compliance and sustainability performance across multiple projects and facilities.
  • Ability to educate team members, including Superintendents and project management on appropriate environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Performs project or facility environmental inspections and educates project team members to perform:

    • Stormwater/construction stormwater/SWPPP
    • Waste Management
    • Air Emissions/Operations
    • Hazardous Waste
    • Sustainability Scorecards


  • Manages and supports the project team in development of the Environmental Plan.
  • Deliver education and guidance on Environmental Plans, sustainability initiatives, and environmental permit requirements, ensuring teams understand their roles and accountabilities.
  • Completes or reviews environmental reports for project(s) inspected within Intelex.
  • Manage and maintain ISNetworld and other client-required sustainability/compliance platforms, ensuring data accuracy, timely submissions, and alignment with project and corporate requirements.
  • Reviews project scope/activity for environmental permit compliance requirements and communicates those requirements to project management.
  • Audits and manages for environmental compliance on multiple projects in each given travel area.
  • Understands contract documents; assists in ensuring contract compliance with environmental regulations and client goals.
  • Ensures quality documentation being completed and filed.
  • Supports Regional Managers and project team members with development of environmental best practices.
  • Participates in the project planning meetings and client meetings as needed.
  • Participates in providing feedback to estimating staff and "lessons learned" sessions.
  • Maintains relationships with environmental regulators in the assigned region and participates in government and industry work groups related to environmental compliance and best practices.
  • Maintain relationships and work hand and hand with HSE safety professionals across all regions

Qualifications

Educational & Experience Requirements:



  • 3 to 5 years' experience in environmental management within the construction or industrial sectors.
  • Combination of work experience and education via college level environmental policy, management or engineering coursework or technical course work in environmental management/stormwater inspection or similar association certification such as CESSWI; CEPSC or equivalent state program can be considered.
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Proficient working knowledge of environmental Best Management Practices (BMPs) for construction stormwater, in/over water work, construction waste management and air emissions requirements for geographical area assigned.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of Federal environmental regulations and policies with the ability to grow a broader knowledge of local environmental regulations and policies within the geographical area assigned.
  • Proven ability to leverage internal resources and communicate environmental needs to project management.
  • Proficient understanding of typical construction contract language in terms of environmental requirements.
  • Understanding of quality control programs; how to track/ensure compliance as work scope (i.e., civil) relates to environmental permit compliance.
  • Experience with or ability to quickly learn ISNetworld and similar sustainability/compliance reporting platforms.
  • Background in good sustainability practices for construction.
