The Technician I, Patient Transportation ("Tech"), under general supervision, oversees patient and non-patient transport throughout the entire Denver Health Medical Center main (including but not limited to nursing units, diagnostic areas, clinics and morgue).

Essential Functions:
  • Patient Transport
    Transports patients from one area to another; using the 2 patient identifier process to ensure safe, quality care.

  • Delivers laboratory specimens, blood products, medications and other hospital/medical items to the requested departments as needed. Accesses the pneumatic tube system, including blood products and medications, to and from the tube and the desired location. (25%)
  • Equipment Maintenance
    Ensures equipment management, wheelchairs, O2 and stretchers storage are in compliance with Joint Commission through rounding, recovery of departmental property and staff education of proper cleaning of equipment and storage locations. Cleans equipment after each patient use.

  • Responds to critical situations e.g. Code White for transportation assistance. (10%)

Education:
  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED

Work Experience:
  • less than 1 year Related experience

Licenses:
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to access and read organizational email.
