Full-time, 40 hours/week

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (will have on-call responsibilities and may need to work non-traditional hours as needed)
Onsite (will involve travel between 2-3 ED sites)

Summary:

The Manager of Emergency Department Registration provides leadership and operational oversight for Emergency Department Registration services across two locations. This role ensures efficient patient access processes, accurate registration and insurance verification, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient service during intake while supporting revenue cycle performance and consistent workflows.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage daily patient registration operations for two Emergency Department locations, ensuring efficient, standardized, and patient-centered workflows.

2. Direct registration processes including patient intake, insurance verification, eligibility checks, and demographic data accuracy to support timely care and revenue cycle integrity.
3. Monitor and manage operational performance metrics (productivity, registration accuracy, quality, and denial prevention) and implement corrective actions as needed.
4. Establish and standardize workflows and best practices across locations to improve operational consistency, compliance, and service quality.

5. Maintain a visible leadership presence through regular travel to all facilities to observe workflows, support staff, and address operational challenges.
6. Ensure accurate data capture to support billing, reimbursement, financial counseling, and regulatory reporting requirements.
7. Oversee point-of-service financial processes, including co-pay collections and management of outstanding patient balances.

8. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, Joint Commission (JCAHO), and organizational policies governing patient access and registration functions.
9. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency, enhance patient experience, and reduce registration errors and claim denials.
10. Collaborate with Emergency Department leadership, clinical teams, revenue cycle, and financial counseling to align patient access operations with organizational goals.
11. Manage and develop supervisors and frontline staff, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, coaching, and training to build a high-performing team.
12. Other duties as assigned

Technical Expertise

  1. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  2. Knowledge of patient access operations and healthcare revenue cycle processes.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to meet operational demands, including on-call responsibilities and non-traditional hours.
  6. Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred

Education and Experience

1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field required, or Associate's degree with 7 years of direct experience

2. Years of relevant experience: 5 years of experience required

3. Years of supervisory experience: 3 years leadership experience required. Leadership experience in a healthcare registration or patient access environment preferred
