Exciting Opportunity at MSK: QA Specialist - Cancer Registrar

Apply your cancer registry expertise in a high impact role dedicated to data quality and regulatory excellence. As a QA & Systems Specialist, you'll lead cancer registry quality assurance, manage state and national submissions, and analyze registry data to drive continuous improvement.

You'll train and mentor registry staff, provide expert guidance on oncology abstraction and coding, and support daily registry operations. Join a mission driven cancer registry team where your experience strengthens compliance, accuracy, and outcomes across oncology care.

Role Overview

  • Perform quality assurance reviews of abstracted cancer registry cases in accordance with MSK policies and oncology data standards

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control methods to ensure complete, accurate, and timely data collection

  • Conduct database edits and audits to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with reporting standards

  • Manage and execute required data submissions to state and national regulatory agencies

  • Analyze cancer registry data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for process improvement

  • Train and educate new and existing registry staff on oncology data standards, workflows, and daily operations

  • Provide subject matter expertise in oncology data abstraction, coding, and reporting

  • Support registry operations by assisting with workflow oversight, staff selection, and performance feedback

  • Serve as backup to the Cancer Registry Manager and assist with special projects and departmental initiatives

Key Qualifications

  • Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) credential, required

  • Associate's degree or certified vocational training in Cancer Registry Management

  • Seven to ten years of tumor registry experience in an oncology or healthcare setting

  • Demonstrated experience with state and national cancer reporting requirements and regulatory submissions

  • Proficiency with tumor registry software, preferably Metriq, and reporting or query tools

  • Proficiency with office productivity applications such as MS Word, Excel

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail and data quality

  • Ability to train, mentor, and guide staff while promoting consistent standards and best practices

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills across clinical, technical, and regulatory partners

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a regulated environment

  • High level of professionalism, sound judgment, and collaborative leadership skills

Additional Information:

  • Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, Monday - Friday

  • Reporting To: Manager II, Cancer Registry

  • Location: Hybrid; 1 time a month in NYC

Pay Range: $77,100.00 - $119,400.00 FSLA Status: Exempt
