As a Mortgage Loan Underwriter, you're detail-oriented with a
knack for analyzing complex information. Utilizing experience in the mortgage
industry, you thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and sound

A Day in the Life:

You'll be the go-to expert for underwriting mortgage loan files, ensuring
compliance with bank and investor guidelines, including Freddie Mac standards.

Reviewing and Analyzing
Loans:
Your day starts with reviewing, verifying, and
analyzing loan documentation, appraisals, and property records. You'll dive
deep into the details, ensuring every piece aligns with our standards and
guidelines.
Making Thoughtful
Decisions:
When it comes to loan decisions, you'll
have the authority to approve or recommend approvals. You'll provide clear
reasoning for each decision, outlining detailed criteria for any conditions
applied.
Staying Current and
Sharing Knowledge:
Keeping up with secondary market
underwriting guidelines is key. You'll not only stay informed but also
communicate updates to your team, ensuring everyone is aligned with the latest
industry standards.
Preparing for Closings
and Enhancing Policies:
Before loans close, you'll deliver
complete, accurate files, and review withdrawn or denied applications to
maintain reporting accuracy. Your insights will help improve policies, and
you'll suggest alternative loan structures when needed.
Supporting and Training
the Team:
You'll provide underwriting support across regions
and offer training to Mortgage Loan Originators, Processors, and other staff,
sharing your expertise to elevate team performance.

What You Bring:

  • 3-5 years of mortgage underwriting experience,
    including Freddie Mac, investor, and MI company overlay expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of conventional loans and government programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage timelines from application to
    closing.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with your
    team.
  • Solid computer skills (Word, Excel, Windows), strong risk assessment
    abilities, and sharp decision-making skills.
  • Professional communication and leadership skills with a focus on quality
    customer service.
