PRN Staff Nurse - Burn Unit

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a PRN Staff Nurse (RN) for the Burn Unit. The Burn Unitis a 17-bed unit equipped with a state-of-the-art hydrotherapy room for burn/wound dressing care, a pediatric playroom and rehabilitation gym. The unit cares for both adult and pediatric burn patients as well as an adult trauma population requiring intermediate monitoring care. The unit has both inpatient and outpatient (Burn Clinic) facilities. Our staff also provide burn outreach and education and annually host a Burn Camp for burn patient survivors. The American College of Surgeons designated our unit as a Level I Burn Center since 1996.

Schedule: 24 Hours in a 4-week schedule, 8 hours must be during off-shift, and one winter and 1 summer holiday.

Education Required

• An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required

Experience Required

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
• General computer skills are required, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire

Desirable Qualifications:

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursingis highly desired
• If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
