Job Summary:

The Prepress Technician is an hourly position that reports and receives direction from the Prepress Manager. The Technician is responsible for the accuracy of completed electronic file output to production.



Qualifications:


  • Strong skills inAdobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge in Kodak Prinergy workflow or equivalent workflow.
  • Knowledge of printing terminology and practices
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Basic computer skills (email, word processing, etc.)
  • Pass color vision test
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Reliability and dependability with good attendance
  • Willing to work overtime as needed
  • Knowledge of color principles and correcting skills
  • Quality inspection skills
  • Strong teamwork skills and positive attitude
  • Must possess a high standard of personal integrity with ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check prior to employment.
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail

Job Duties:


  • Follow production workflow to produce high volumes of work in Prepress, using high end equipment.
  • Prepare electronic files for high resolution output including assembly, color correcting, retouching and color separation.
  • Refine, trap and inspect files.
  • Impose files for output.
  • Output and inspect proofs and/or plates for accuracy and quality.
  • Check proofs, plates and equipment for linearity and make adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain equipment in the Prepress department as needed.
  • Load materials into output devices.
  • Quality inspect all electronic output such as proofs and plates.
  • Perform related job duties as needed and assigned.
  • Troubleshoot problems that occur during job submission process.
  • Evaluate output and make adjustments to obtain a desired level of image quality.
  • Consult with customer service to evaluate individual project needs.
  • Other job duties as assigned.



Physical Requirements:


  • Requires sitting at a computer for 8 or more hours per day.
  • Requires visual acuity to operate a computer, read a computer screen, read policies and manuals



Work Environment:


  • Mostly office environment, some exposure to shop noise



Education/Certification/Work Experience:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years of prepress production experience required.



The pay range for this position is $30.00-$35.00 per hour and is eligible for an annual bonus.
