| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The
NCCU Department of Athletics' primary purpose is to provide leadership for an
NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program. The
NCCU Department of Athletics places the highest priority on a quality academic and athletic experience as part of the overall education of student- athletes. The Department of Athletics seeks to strengthen the integration of the athletics program objectives with academic development objectives. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The Director of Development drives the strategic vision and execution of comprehensive fundraising efforts for the Department of Athletics while serving as a vital member of the Executive Leadership Team. |
| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
Proven skills in meeting goals for contributions, corporate sponsorships and major gifts for an Intercollegiate Athletics program. The candidate must possess outstanding oral and written communication skills. Preferred experience in using Raiser's Edge, ticketing system software, and Adobe software packages. |
| Minimum Education/Experience |
A bachelor's degree is required, with a master's degree strongly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with 3-5 years of frontline development experience in collegiate athletics or higher education advancement. |

Identifies, cultivates and solicits donor prospects in support of
NCCU Athletics to reach annual fundraising goals as set forth by the Director of Athletics in conjunction with the Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement. Actively participates with the Office of Institutional Advancement in moves management, prospect screening, and goal setting via regularly scheduled group or individual meetings. |
