Position Summary: The Music Teacher (MT) will provide the Music Program for all school students at St. Joseph Academy. The MT will plan, prepare and deliver developmentally-appropriate music lessons to all grade levels K4-8, including preparing school students for the Holiday Concert and Spring Concert. Position Reports to: Principal
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required Valid DPI license 1+ years developing and implementing specialized programming in an elementary school or middle school Bilingual speaker (Spanish) preferred Ability to observe and maintain classroom Exemplary interpersonal, planning and organization skills Proficient user of MS Office software and phone systems Ability to analyze an issue, identify options, implement solutions Ability to work cooperatively with people inside and outside of the school Ability to communicate and effectively interact with children, their family members, management, and staff members Ability to respond positively to work direction and guidance from others Ability to work independently, managing multiple demanding tasks under critical timeframes Current CPR, First Aid and Certification
Equipment used: Office equipment: PC, printers, phone systems, fax machine, photocopier, scanner
Physical and Mental Requirements: (Occasionally 1% - 33% of time; frequently 34% - 66% of time; continuously 67% - 100% of time) Occasionally - lifting up to 25 pounds, rarely lifting over 25 pounds, walking, standing, bending, reaching Continuously - sitting Frequently - hand manipulation / dexterity when writing, using PC, and using other office equipment
Environmental Conditions: Occasional exposure to infectious or communicable diseases inherent to care of ill children, occasional exposure to loud or unpleasant voices due to unpredictable behavior of children and seasonal exposure to high humidity due to temperature control of the facility, heat and cold due to the internal and external environment.

- Assures each family's and employee's right to privacy and confidentiality, at all times
- Extends excellent service to all children and families
- Establishes appropriate relationships with children, parents/guardians, staff, and the public which ensures a safe environment that protects children/families' rights
- Communicates verbally and in writing all pertinent information to support the education department's programs
- Communicates pertinent information with members of the team and appropriate departments to ensure response to requests, concerns, or issues
- Develop and implement age appropriate music programming
- Plan, prepare and deliver music lessons to all grade levels K4-8
- Effectively manage resources to provide quality music education
- Prepare students to perform in the Holiday Concert and Spring Concert
- Effectively manage the classroom for grades K4-8
- Work with grade level teachers on interdisciplinary projects
- Explore the creation of after school music program opportunities
- Attain opportunities for students to perform music at different school or community events
- Support of all school functions, including, but not limited to, small group work, lunch room duty, recess duty, and/or dismissal duty.
- Ensures welcoming environment to all children
- Participates in meetings to improve communication and problem solving, as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
