  • Department: Laboratory
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

As a Medical Technologist II under general supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, works with the site managers and supervisors across the group practice to ensure documentation and compliance with CAP and CLIA '88 regulations overseeing point of care testing. Operates and calibrates all equipment in the area of specialization, evaluates the validity of laboratory data, records tests results, communicates with physicians, pathologists and nursing staff regarding test procedures and results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates, coordinates, and monitors point of care activities by working closely with site supervisors and managers and conducting periodic audits across the group practice
  • Develops teaching materials for point of care procedures and instrumentation including initial training and annual competencies to ensure competent testing personnel in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Participates in procedure and policy development, implementation and updates to promote consistency across sites
  • Provides input into the selection of new point of care tests and instrumentation
  • Performs validation and start up studies and assists with installation of hardware and software, including software updates
  • Serves as a technical resource to assist with troubleshooting issues with testing, resulting, and point of care instrumentation as needed
  • Ensures excellent communication, collaboration and cooperation with coworkers and medical staff
  • Adheres to all laboratory policies and procedures, and reviews policy and procedures on an annual basis
  • May train and direct work for students and new staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a chemical, physical, clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution
  • Must meet the required qualifications for being an individual responsible for competency assessment and have the education and experience to evaluate the complexity of testing being assessed as defined by CAP (College of American Pathologist)
  • Ability to travel to other Atrius locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • 2+ years of point of care laboratory experience
  • Proven excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex clinical and instrument problems
  • Proven to be accurate, reliable, and able to work well under pressure and to finish a task once started
  • Proven solid communication skills, both in writing and speaking

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $23.89 to $42.69 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
