Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Technical Design, leads a team responsible for ensuring precise fit, quality, and construction for Production while maintaining design aesthetics and integrity. They collaborate closely with Overseas Office (OSO) Technical Design to ensure seamless communication and provide accurate, detailed tech packs for development and all counter samples. Additionally, they support CLO 3D initiatives.

What You Will Do



  • Lead a team comprising Senior Technical Designers and Assistant Technical Designers.
  • Act as a technical expert in all aspects of responsibility and provide guidance to direct reports, including tech pack creation and fittings.
  • Provide training and mentorship to technical teams on construction and fit for both New York and Overseas Office.
  • Ensure compliance with Private Brands Brand/Product Standards and guidelines for fit, construction, quality, safety, and cost savings.
  • Maintain consistency in fit, quality, and workmanship to uphold Brand integrity.
  • Adhere to the end-to-end seasonal calendar, ensuring timely completion of seasonal deadlines and escalate any deadline issues to the next level.
  • Manage the annual model budget and report month-end results.
  • Support Brand and Company initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain the Brand Block Library (Specs & e-Patterns) and create/maintain the Virtual 3D Block library.
  • Support the scaling and integration of 3D in the Pre-Fit process.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • Utilize 3D technology to assess grading on avatars, reducing sample iterations and expediting the fit approval process.


Skills You Will Need

Technical Expertise: Proficiency in patternmaking, fit, garment construction, and grading, with an understanding of how these elements impact the cost of product and manufacturing.

Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing processes, machinery, and production procedures related to apparel.

3D Apparel Software: Familiarity with Apparel 3D Software is advantageous for supporting CLO 3D initiatives.

Software Proficiency: Proficient in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or similar systems, as well as MS Office Suite for documentation and reporting.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts and instructions.

Team Management: Ability to lead and manage a team comprising Senior Technical Designers and Assistant Technical Designers.

Project Management: Capable of handling multiple priorities and managing the end-to-end seasonal calendar, ensuring timely completion of deadlines.

Proactive Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving, adapting to dynamic team and global business environments.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain consistency in fit, quality, and workmanship.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, utilizing data and metrics to make complex decisions related to fit, quality, and production processes.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 10+ years of experience in apparel technical design / patternmaking. 3-5 years of prior management experience preferred.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
