Overview

How you can make a difference

We are seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the member commerce experience for HealthEquity Marketplace, a managed health and wellness platform designed to help our members get more health and healthcare per dollar. We are seeking a strategic and agile commerce expert with deep experience in managed marketplaces. This role will build and scale the demand side of Marketplace. You define how members discover, evaluate, and purchase across three offering models: clinical programs, referral and affiliate partners, and direct commerce where HealthEquity operates as merchant of record.

This is a 0-to-1-to-scale opportunity. This position reports to the GM of Marketplace and sits within the Product organization.

What you will be doing

Commerce Experience

Own the end-to-end member commerce experience and journey.
  • Define the member journey from intent elevation to discovery and purchase.
  • Design the evaluation and purchase flows that support Marketplace offering models.
  • Establish the interaction patterns and experience standards.
  • Own conversion rate, member satisfaction, and overall usability as success metrics.

Intent and Discovery

  • Convert low-intent account activity into commerce engagement.
  • Create the intent layer that elevates everyday account activities, like balance checks, transaction reviews, and claims, to higher intent health purchasing opportunities.
  • Design discovery experiences that help members find relevant programs, services, and products at the right moment.
  • Translate the Marketplace offering portfolio into clear, intuitive discovery paths that remain simple and relevant as the catalog grows.

Funnel Performance and Experimentation

  • Own performance across the full Marketplace member funnel.
  • Define measurement frameworks across discovery, evaluation, purchase, and repeat engagement.
  • Establish instrumentation and analytics standards across the commerce funnel.
  • Drive a high-frequency experimentation roadmap across discovery, conversion, and retention surfaces.
  • Translate funnel data into clear product priorities and roadmap decisions.

Commerce Operating Model

  • Define and run the operating model for Marketplace commerce.
  • Establish product processes and working rhythms across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and other partner teams.
  • Lead launch coordination for new Marketplace capabilities and offerings.
  • Ensure teams can move quickly while maintaining clarity, quality, and accountability as Marketplace scales.

What you will need to be succesful

  • 8+ years of product management experience with significant depth in consumer commerce, ecommerce platforms, or marketplace platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience building or scaling a direct-to-consumer commerce product from an early state, including the foundational decisions that shaped how it scaled.
  • Direct experience building or operating within a managed marketplace where multiple partner offerings are presented within a unified commerce experience.
  • Experience designing and launching consumer-facing commerce flows including discovery, evaluation, and checkout.
  • Strong product judgment combined with analytical rigor: you articulate what a great experience looks like, feels like, and the measurements to validate it.
  • Mobile-first instincts: you design for tap targets, app-based flows, and mobile responsiveness as the default.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted prototyping and design tools to compress the cycle from idea to testable hypothesis.
  • Ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives across Engineering, Design, Marketing, GTM, and partner teams without direct authority.
  • Comfort in regulated environments where eligibility rules and compliance requirements shape what can be built and how it is communicated.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience building or scaling consumer commerce products in health, wellness, digital health, or healthcare services.
    • Familiarity with HSA and FSA eligibility requirements and how they influence consumer purchase experience design.
    • Experience building recommendation or contextual discovery systems within consumer commerce products.
    • Background in subscription retention, including the post-enrollment product decisions that drive renewal.
