Communications Manager

Saab, Inc., a leading defense and security company, is currently seeking a Manager - Communications to lead the company's communications function in the U.S.From strategic planning to high-level media relations to executive communications to employee engagement, this forward-thinking, detail-orientated individual will be Saab, Inc.'s primary communications leader both internally and externally as our company delivers on robust growth plans in the U.S. market.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President - Corporate Affairs (U.S), this position may be located at Saab's Washington, DC Navy Yard office or Syracuse, NY headquarters with a work from home option 2 days/week.

The Communications Manager is responsible for leading a team of four professionals whose roles span Internal, External, Brand, Digital & CEO communications. The successful candidate will work to develop each position while also fostering coordination and collaboration within the communications team and across the global company. The ideal candidate will have strong issues management and media relations expertise.

Responsibilities will include:

Compensation Range: Washington, DC: $180,600 - $234,700

Syracuse, NY: $150,500 - $195,600

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, or related field

• 15+ years of corporate communications experience in the defense industry or in defense policy.

• Dynamic team builder and passionate advocate for effective and innovative communications at all levels of the company.

• Strong attention to detail, including adherence to AP Stylebook.

• Highly organized and deadline driven.

• A knack for storytelling, asking important questions and driving an expert perspective across the company.

• Ability to provide in-the-moment strategic feedback and counsel to executives and business leaders.

• Meticulous writing, editing and proofreading skills and demonstrated ability to write for a variety of different audiences.

• Digital competency, including knowledge of social media, paid campaigns, web strategy and analytics.

• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with senior executives.

• Experience successfully managing multiple priorities and responding to urgent, near-term opportunities as well as meeting longer-term objectives.

• Thrive under pressure and respond quickly and proficiently to stakeholders.

• Consistently exceed expectations, and manage time skillfully to meet deadlines.
