Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Strategic Initiatives Manager

We are seeking a Strategic Initiatives Manager to join our Enterprise Growth and Business Development team! This is an opportunity to shape the future of MSK as a thought leader and project driver by guiding strategic planning, evaluating high-impact business opportunities, and enabling data-driven decisions that fuel growth.

In this role, you will partner with leaders to identify and execute strategic priorities while developing rigorous qualitative and quantitative analyses that inform key strategic initiatives. You'll be part of a team that is passionate about solving complex, meaningful challenges that measurably impact the strategic direction of MSK.

Role Overview

  • Serve as an individual contributor to diverse teams that are tasked with developing and assessing new insights and ideas that will drive forward our strategy

  • Support execution of the enterprise strategic plan, monitor progress toward strategic goals, and enable communication across the organization

  • Work in partnership with clinical and administrative leaders to facilitate the development and implementation of strategic priorities aligned with the enterprise strategic plan

  • Support the production and evaluation of program-specific strategies including workshop facilitation, framework development, and identification of implementation roadmaps

  • Deliver presentations to key stakeholders on MSK's internal dynamics, competitive and industry dynamics, and the interplay between these elements

  • Research and remain current on existing and evolving evidence-based strategic management methodology to ensure continuous improvement in the outcomes of the team

  • Translate ambiguous business problems into structured questions that can be answered analytically and strategically.

  • Translate complex analyses back into a straightforward narrative that can be understood by business leaders.

  • Find creative approaches to answering questions that do not have a clear methodology or data source.

  • Support the development of market position and competitor analyses, and other research as needed

  • Work across all levels of the business by establishing trusting and collaborative relationships with a wide range of peers, senior executives, and external contacts

Example Projects:

MSK needs to understand patient activity and resource requirements over both the short term (1-2 years) and long- term (10-15 years).

  • How should we approach these projections?

  • What different considerations are there in the short and long- term?

  • How should we handle uncertainty about the future both in our modeling and in communicating with leadership?

MSK is developing a long- term strategy for growth across prioritized service lines

  • What types of growth should we pursue?

  • What factors could drive growth?

  • How will market and competitor trends shape our approach to growth?

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in a strategic, competitive intelligence, analytic, or research position

  • Demonstrated skills in strategy development, strategic planning and/or business development

  • Analytical competencies to assess strategic opportunities and develop growth plans

  • Experience assembling, evaluating, and understanding large amounts of complex information to make business recommendations.

  • Proficient with Excel tools and functions (Pivot Tables, vLookup, ectc..). Experience with SQL or a dashboarding tool (Tableau or PowerBI) a plus

  • Highly developed leadership facilitation, communication, planning, and presentation skills

  • Able to navigate effectively even when things are not clear or the way forward is not obvious

  • Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, Monday - Friday

  • Location: Hybrid: Tuesdays on site at 633 Third Ave, New York, NY

  • Reporting To: Senior Director, Strategy Activation & Execution

Pay Range: $111,600.00 - $178,600.00 FSLA Status: Exempt
