Job Title: Staff Accountant

Division: Finance

Reports To: US Controller

Key Relationships: Senior Financial Analyst, Senior Statutory Accountant, Head of North American External Reporting, Head of North America Finance

Job Summary: The Staff Accountant is an important member of the finance team, supporting our financial accounting and reporting. Responsibilities include preparation of journal entries and financial exhibits, account reconciliations, cash administration, and regulatory reporting support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly accounting entries and support control documentation for general finance functions.
  • Preparation of assigned account reconciliations including cash reconciliations.
  • Cash administration, including reviewing and approving banking transactions.
  • Preparation and submission of periodic regulatory reporting requirements for states.
  • Assist in preparing the quarterly and annual financial statements for GAAP Group reporting and Statutory stand-alone reporting
  • Cross training/ support of Sr. Financial Analyst's responsibilities, in addition to other duties as assigned by the Controller

Personal Specification:

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Prior Public accounting or Insurance experience preferable

Skills and Abilities

  • Solid financial analysis skills

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions

Knowledge and Experience

  • Solid knowledge of accounting concepts/theories
  • Solid knowledge of insurance accounting and reporting concepts/theories
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • General Ledger experience

Salary for this role will be tailored to the successful individual's location and experience. The expected compensation range for this position is $85,000-$100,000 per year plus discretionary annual bonus.
