Job Summary:

This position is accountable for all aspects of material handling, shipping, receiving, stocking, and area maintenance. Ensures timely delivery of materials to their respective areas. Ensure loading and unloading of material in a timely manner. Ensure proper inspection of received material and put into stock in proper location. Operate various types and size lift trucks (1/2 ton, 3/4ton, 1 ton, and 2-ton trucks), mobile yard crane, and overhead cranes. Requires all aspects of operating tractor/trainer combination. Local pickups and deliveries, as well as some over the road trips.

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver materials from stock or remnant to respective areas.
  • Deliver parts to respective areas.
  • Loading and unloading of parts and material for customers and vendors
  • Receive, inventory, and inspect all incoming material and stock in proper location.
  • Ensure timely delivery of material to their respective areas.
  • Must be self-motivated in the care of and proper placement of material and parts
  • Must maintain racks and zones for material disposal.
  • Maintain I.D. for storage and future use.
  • Maintain proper documentation of inventory.
  • Responsible for inspections and care of equipment
  • Maintain inventory record accuracy.
  • Effectively organize material in its proper locations
  • Prepare, package, and protect any outgoing product with coordination and approval of all proper personnel.
  • Driver is responsible for loading or direct loading of parts.
  • Loads must be secured and protected properly without damage.
  • Loads must comply with D.O.T. regulations and tractor/trailer ratings.
  • Oversize loads must be properly marked and flagged in accordance with D.O.T. regulations.
  • Required to keep in constant contact with D.O.T. regulations, updates, and oversize permit requirements.
  • Responsible for inspections and equipment kept clean.
  • Coordinate shipments with any person who will be directly related to job.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to safely back and maneuver tractor/ trailer combination in various loading and unloading locations and situations.
  • Extensive knowledge of material grades and types.
  • Knowledge of shipping procedures and how freight industry works.
  • Knowledge of inventory control.
  • Good understanding of computers and inventory programs to retrieve information and verify received items.
  • Ability to operate and maneuver a variety of equipment in tight positions (large and small forklifts, Manlifts, pallet jack, overhead cranes.)
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 51 lbs.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions in and outside the shop.
  • Must be able to work effectively without supervision.
  • Willing to work overtime when necessary.
  • Willing to train new hires in all aspects of material handling.
  • Ability to develop and maintain trust, unity, and partner with management, team members and customers.
  • Must be able to communicate well with others and write clearly.
  • Possesses interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent team player skills.
  • Must maintain professional conduct and appearance.
  • Strong advocate of the company vision and mission statements.

Minimum Requirements:

Three years' experience in operating tractor/trailer combinations. Must have experience in operating tractor/trailer combination in various traffic conditions (freeway and smaller rural type areas.) Two years' experience in material handling. Must pass a D.O.T. physical. Must hold current operator's certification on powered industrial trucks. Must hold current operator's certification on powered industrial trucks. Must hold current driver's license, and be in good standing, and must hold current medical card.
